Name: Emilio Katrea. Lio for short (Pronounced Leo)
Age: 20
Appearance: Emilio stands about 5'6" and weighs 154 lbs. He has a slim, muscular build that makes his weaker than he really is. He has long red hair that sometimes looks pink in extremely bright light. He wears a pair of glasses over his emerald green eyes. Furthermore, he usually has a distant or cold look on his face.
His usual attire consists of a white short-sleeved shirt worn under a black short-sleeved blazer. He wears a pair of black polyester pants and black shoes, though his shoes have silver soles.
History: Emilio was born to a rather poor family in Satellite. His father was always either mad or drunk or both and his mother worked at a gas station nearby. As a small child, all he could do was help out around the neighborhood to gain a dollar here or there. The times he didn't come home with much money, he was beaten. He wished every night that someone would help him out of the bad situation he was in.
His father hated him and his mother was always distant, as if she didn't know Emilio was there. So, instead of asking his parents for help with his problems, he learned to deal with his own problems. He spent most of this time around the local area of his neighborhood trying to earn money, and always tried to stay out as late as he could so he could stay out of his parents' sight. Most of the time, he just wanted to run.
Years passed, and Emilio's parents took a loan from a well known local gang. With the money they got, they were able to raise their standards of living. Emilio, now 6 years old, was able to wander around Satellite freely. He made a few friends, but none of them were ever close friends. Many of them seemed distant and scared to be around him. Because of this, Emilio spent most of his time just wandering around aimlessly.
During one of his wanderings, he met a man named Fulfer. This man was a mechanic who worked on D-Wheels, and he became good friends with him. Fulfer began teaching Emilio how to work on and build D-Wheels, starting with the basics and learning from there. It was hard at first, but once Emilio started getting the hand of it, he was able to understand a lot about how D-Wheels and engines worked.
Another three years of painful beatings and misery passed, which turned him into a quiet person. He overheard his parents talking to some people from a local gang, whom they had apparently taken several large loans from. When his parents couldn't pay them back, they stormed out of the house in fury. That night it snowed, so he went outside to play in the snow under his mother's supervision.
As they were finishing a snowman, red snow began to fall. You can probably guess what happened, so I won't go into detail. But, as his mother fell, she grabbed onto Emilio's shoulders and said her last words to him. These words devastated him and drove him into depression for a while.
"You should never have been born."
He became an orphan who lived on the streets, banding together with other children to survive the elements and street gangs. One day, a strange man with very spiky hair walked up to him while he was sheltered from the rain. He gave Emilio a starter deck for the game Duel Monsters and told him something he would never forget. He stuck to those words and asked Fulfer if he could move in with him. Fulfer agreed.
Emilio moved in with Fulfer soon after and became both his foster son and his student. Fulfer taught him how to build and maintain a D-Wheel and taught him the basics of living in a city like Neo Domino. Emilio also took lessons of duel monsters from many of the local duelists. He best to learn so that one day he could live a better life. Emilio was only 10, but he knew much more about D-Wheels and duel monsters than many of the duelists around.
He continued this life style for six uneventful years. By this time, he was a mastermind of D-Wheels and a good duelist in his own right. during those six years, he had worked on his own D-Wheel. At the end of the six year period, his D-Wheel was finished with many smuggled parts from Neo Domino. With the completion of his D-Wheel, he began to learn how to preform a Riding Duel.
Two years passed, and he had become a decent riding duelist. While he was still better at ground duels, he enjoyed riding duels more. He was 18, and Fulfer decided it was time for him to leave Satellite. Emilio was told of a pipeline that connected Neo Domino to Satellite, which would carry him to freedom.
Emilio agreed. He disguised his D-Wheel so that they couldn't search him out with it's description and prepared to head out. As he walked out the door, Fulfer stopped him and told him something about his mother's death. The bullet that hit his mother had been meant for him, under a deal his father had struck with the gang to erase their debt. Fulfer had known for years, but didn't want to tell Emilio in fear of the impact it would have on him
Emilio departed with nothing but a farewell. His mind was obviously on what had just been told to him, and he slipped up with his plan in escaping Satellite. He was spotted and was forced to turn towards the pier. Using a construction ramp at the end of one of the docks, he was able to ramp onto a departing boat before he was captured.
He was arrested when he arrived at Neo Domino and all of his possessions were confiscated. He was sentenced for a long time, but someone bailed him out and gave him his freedom. He's never found out who, but his thoughts turned to the man who gave him the starter deck all those years ago.
With his freedom, he received a letter from Fulfer. It told him of a free lot he could use for a shop, and it contained the money to buy the lot. He bought the lot and had a store built. Two years later, at the age of 20, he runs his business while trying to find a meaning to his life.
Personality: Emilio is a kind person at heart, but is quiet in public. He's not one to start a conversation, and won't hesitate to act cold or even cruel to teach someone a lesson. He wants to help Satellite out of it's poor predicament to prevent anyone else having a childhood like his in the future.
Out in public, he is quiet. He tends to stare into the distance with a solemn look on his face, as if looking for answers to his still unanswered problems.
Social Status: Neo Domino.
Deck: Various decks.
Type of duelist: Riding
D-Wheel: Emilio's D-Wheel has a very sleek design, built for speed and durability. It rides low to the ground and is designed so the driver is nearly laying on his stomach, ensuring that rider or the bike's speed is not restrained by the wind at all. There is room for one passenger on the D-Wheel. Commands such as attack, draw, and discard are voice activated through a microphone placed in the rider's helmet.
The engine to the bike is almost the most powerful an engine can get these days. It's more silent than even the police's engines, which suppresses the engine's full power. Even suppressed, the engine can outmatch most racing engines.
The hologram projectors are on the sides and the front of the D-Wheel. They glow Silver when they start up to match the D-Wheel's paint job. On the front, just under the hologram projector, is a symbol of a single black wing wrapping around a bouquet of blood stained roses.
The hard drive of the D-Wheel's internal computer is fueled by several chips to enhance performance and memory, making the onboard computer super fast. It has GPS, limited internet connection, and hundreds of small programs that helps the computer keep it's super quick speed through duels.
